AFTERNOON ADVENTURES

Custer State Park Jeep Tour

Get off the beaten track and spend your afternoon at Custer State Park on an off-road safari jeep tour. Travel through the park in an open-air jeep in search of pronghorns, elk and buffalo. Along the way, guides will share historical and educational facts about the park and wildlife—and help you spot the critters. Buffalo, antelope and elk, OH MY! We will travel to Custer State Park via bus, and lunch will be provided. This tour will be limited to 80 people. (There is an additional fee to go on this tour.)

Journey Museum Tour

No journey is a straight line. Come explore what The Journey Museum has to offer. Grab lunch and enjoy a short walk to the museum. Step through the front doors and get ready to immerse yourself in the history of the Black Hills and Native American history. As you enter the twinkling Star Room, open your ears and eyes to the scientific and cultural perspectives of the beginning of time. Venture into the earth’s crust and visualize the many rocky
layers that lay beneath our feet. As you make your way through the uplift of the Black Hills, touch and feel the very rocks and gems that are found right here in this area. Check out dinosaur bones and see real arrowheads. Marvel at the intricate beadwork of the indigenous peoples and step inside a real tipi. Travel back in time to Deadwood and see the demise of Wild Bill.

Downtown Rapid City Tour

Other than being past presidents of the United States, what do George Washington, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan have in common? They, along with 41 other past presidents, stand ready to greet you at the City of Presidents in downtown Rapid City. The City of Presidents is a series of life-sized bronze statues of our nation’s past presidents. Your outing will start with lunch followed by a short walk downtown. Our guide for the day will highlight the City of Presidents, as well as other downtown Rapid City gems. Wrap up your afternoon with a stop at the Blind Lion. Hidden underground, the Blind Lion is a 1920s-themed speakeasy that will take you right back to the era of Prohibition.
