SEMINAR DESCRIPTION

Bank security teams face an increasingly complex threat landscape—one that extends far beyond traditional robbery response. This full-day training program is designed specifically for bank security professionals responsible for protecting people, facilities, and operations in today’s dynamic banking environment.

Hileman Security Training Group (HSTG) has been providing training for several years, and this program reflects the evolution of both the threat environment and the lessons learned from working closely with financial institutions across the region. While building on proven principles, this course delivers new content, updated case studies, current trends, new video analysis, and a fresh perspective—ensuring value for both first-time and returning attendees.

Human Trafficking: This segment begins by establishing a strong awareness and mindset foundation, addressing how criminals and violent actors identify opportunities within financial institutions and surrounding communities. Participants examine human trafficking indicators and how banking professionals may encounter victims through everyday interactions. The course dispels common myths, explains how trafficking relies on coercion and control rather than abduction, and equips security teams with practical guidance on recognition, documentation, and appropriate response.

Security Assessments: In this course, we will explain how to conduct your own security assessment practically and effectively. This course is not going to focus on the “typical” things covered in a security assessment course. We will spend time showing you how to protect your most important asset, your people! We understand that your building is your building, your people are your people, and your layout is your layout. So, instead of making unrealistic recommendations about changing these things, let’s take what you have and make it safer.

Active Threats: A core component of this segment focuses on active shooter and workplace violence preparedness, beginning with HSTG’s renowned “Survival Gap” mindset training. This segment explores how stress, perception, and human performance influence decision-making during sudden acts of violence. Participants develop a deeper understanding of how mindset directly impacts survivability—for themselves, employees, and customers.

Interview vs Interrogation: As the BSO, there are times when you may be required to conduct an interview with an employee. This closing section will focus on how to build rapport, gain trust, create a theme, and obtain a confession. This is a critical skill that can be used on a regular basis whether talking to your own children or trying to get to the bottom of what actually happened. It is one of the more difficult tasks of an investigation but the skills taught in this section are invaluable!

SEMINAR PRESENTER

Joseph B. Hileman: Founder | Hileman Security Training Group| Hileman served as the Assistant Team Commander of the Monadnock Regional Special Response (SWAT) Team and for 21+ years as a Detective with the Jaffrey (NH) Police Department.  Prior to his career in Law Enforcement, he served as Security Supervisor at the corporate management level of a Fortune 500 company.  Mr. Hileman holds two A.A. degrees in Criminal Justice – Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Corrections, Probation, and Parole.
