SDBA’s Legislative Day offers a valuable opportunity to stay informed on state and federal legislation impacting the banking industry. Attendees can expect insightful discussions, networking, and direct engagement with key policymakers.
All events will be held at the Ramkota Hotel & Conference Center at 920 W. Sioux Ave. in Pierre unless otherwise noted. All times are Central Standard Time.
*Bankers, including emerging bank leaders, are welcome to visit the State Capitol on their own in the morning to observe legislative committee hearings. To view committee schedules, visit www.sdlegislature.gov.

8:00 a.m. - Registration Opens
8:00-11:00 a.m. - Hill Visits (on your own) | During Legislative Day, South Dakota bankers will have the opportunity to visit the State Capitol and meet directly with lawmakers. These visits are a cornerstone of our advocacy efforts - giving bankers a chance to share real-world insights, discuss the impact of proposed legislation, and build relationships that shape the future of our industry. Don't miss the chance to be heard and help influence decisions that affect South Dakota banking
12:30 p.m. - Lunch (Governor Rhoden Invited)
1:30 p.m. - Legislative Committee Meeting (open to all) | Join the SDBA Legislative Committee as we discuss key legislative priorities and issues impacting South Dakota's banking industry. The committee works to represent the collective interests of banks across the state by sponsoring beneficial legislation and reviewing existing and proposed laws that could affect the industry. This meeting is open to all and is an opportunity to stay informed, provide input, and help shape the SDBA's advocacy efforts for the year ahead.
2:45 p.m. - Speaker: Bill Even, Commissioner, SD Governor's Office of Economic Development | Economic Development and the Banking Industry: A Partnership for Growth | Join Bill Even, South Dakota's Commissioner of the Governor's Office of Economic Development, for an engaging discussion on the vital connection between economic development and the banking industry. Mr. Even will explore how the state's economic initiatives influence the banking landscape and how banks play a critical role in driving community and business growth across South Dakota. He will also highlight opportunities for partnership and collaboration to strengthen local economies, support business expansion, and foster long-term prosperity statewide.
3:30 p.m. - Emerging Leader Reception | The SDBA State Legislative Day is a perfect opportunity for emerging bank leaders to step into the world of advocacy and relationship-building. By participating, you'll gain firsthand insight into the legislative process, engage with lawmakers on issues that affect our industry, and network with banking professionals from across South Dakota. It is a chance to make your voice heard, learn from experienced leaders, and strengthen connections that will shape your career and the future of banking in our state.
5:00-7:00 p.m. - Legislative Reception | Join us for our Legislative Reception - an evening specifically designed to connect South Dakota bankers with lawmakers and policy makers in a relaxed, social setting. This is your opportunity to build relationships, share perspectives, and strengthen the voice of the banking industry. Your participation is vital - come help represent South Dakota banking and make meaningful connections with those shaping our state's future.
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12: EMERGING LEADER PROGRAMMING
7:30 a.m. - Emerging Leader Breakfast | You are engaged with the SDBA. You are attending Legislative Day. You have learned about the key bills impacting South Dakota's banking industry - now it is time to put that knowledge into action! Join us at SDBA Central (SDBA Office: 109 W. Missouri Ave) for an Emerging Leaders networking breakfast before heading to the Capitol to see the legislative process in motion. Tour the Capitol, observe committee meetings, and connect with your legislators. Your voice matters - this is your opportunity to make an impact and shine.
8:30 a.m. - Guided Hill Visit | After breakfast, we will go to the South Dakota State Capitol for a guided tour, leaving enough time to also observe and sit in on committee meetings. This add-on offers a meaningful way to become more familiar with the spaces, people, and processes that shape public policy in South Dakota - and to see firsthand where the work of our Legislature happens.
