South Dakota Bankers Group Health Plan

Our SDBA plan continues to grow and bring new benefits. This year we are offering a new Vision Plan and BCBS is making available to all of our banks their “Blues Enroll,” an on-line maintenance of employee eligibility, status and claims – forget the manual paper work – do it on-line real time. We have five deductible options to choose from with highly negotiated Life Insurance Premiums.

The Multiple Employer Trust (MET) we developed helps share our banking experience just among our bank employees and does help curb costs. As a SDBA member you now have a way to provide your employees with the coverage they want at a price everyone can afford.

This is a unique opportunity for all SDBA members to join together and form a buying coalition to purchase employee benefits. Over thirty state bankers associations across the nation have run successful health insurance plans; some have been in existence for over 50 years. Large group plans provide member banks with buying power to purchase products and services available only in the large group environment.

Providing flexibility for employers and employees. This Plan has been designed to provide the greatest flexibility to both the employers and employees. The employee has the option to choose a deductible of $500 all the way up to a $3,000 deductible. Thus giving complete flexibility based on their need.

Bank Self-Insuring a portion of the deductible - For those banks that self-insure a portion of the deductible, this Plan is designed to accommodate their creativity in keeping down health care costs.

Flexibility to accommodate everyone’s needs - Our plans offer not only single and family coverage but we are also offer employee and spouse or employee and child (ren) only plans. These are just more ways the SDBA health plan can save you and your employee’s premium dollars.

$5,000 of Life Insurance with $5,000 Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Benefit. Each employee will have $5,000 of life insurance with a matching $5,000 AD&D coverage and each bank sets the amount of coverage for all employees up to $50,000 of life with $50,000 AD&D. This is one of the least expensive benefits that an employer can provide.

Vision Care – VSP Eye Care will cover all employees. This year we will have two additional plans that your employees have to choose from. All employees will still be covered with the $1.50 Plan A that covers an eye exam and discounts on frames and lenses. For the Employee and entire Family, Plan B @ $13.50/Mo. pays for lenses every year and frames every other year. For the Employee and entire Family, Plan C @ $18.50/Mo. pays for lenses and frames every year.

Out-of-State Coverage – BCBS has the most extensive National / International health care network in the world.

Early Retirement Option - Another outstanding benefit for all the SDBA health plans is the Early Retirement Option. This benefit allows employees with 5+ years of employment in their bank and attained the age of 60 and over (along with their spouse) to remain on the health plan until they reach Medicare Eligible Age.

No Balance-Billing - All the plans have a $20 co-pay and no balance billing. What does no balance-billing mean? It means that the in-network providers have already agreed to accept the claim payment from our partner BCBS as payment in full for their services.

Excellent Benefits - Along with outstanding inpatient health benefits, all the plans through the SDBA include coverage for routine exams, well-child services, chiropractic care, out-patient services and prescription drugs.
