Committee Members

The SDBA has several standing committees that assist in directing Association activities in various areas of banking, education and legislation. Volunteer committee members contribute to a stronger banking industry by sharing their time and talents.

Committee terms are one year beginning May 1 and ending April 30 of each year, with the exception of Legislative Committee members who serve three-year terms. Committees generally meet one to two times a year to initiate activities and to recommend policy. Committee members do have the option of serving more than one term on these standing committees (except the Legislative Committee) and will receive a notice each spring to determine their continued interest. Following are the missions of the SDBA's five standing committees:

  • Agricultural Credit Committee
Mission: To provide timely information to SDBA agricultural lenders; to keep them abreast of developments, regulations and legislation in agricultural lending. In addition, continue to support, promote and encourage a strong economy in South Dakota.

  • Credit Card Committee
Mission: To represent the card industry in South Dakota.

  • Education Committee
Mission: To deliver quality education and training at a reasonable price as close to the end user as possible.

  • Legislative Committee
Mission: To represent the interests of the banking industry in South Dakota. The committee sponsors legislation and also reviews existing law and proposed legislation which may be detrimental to the industry.

  • Trust Committee
Mission: To keep members abreast of any legislative changes in South Dakota as well as to propose legislation necessary to assure an efficient and effective fiduciary responsibility to its clients and member banks.

The 2007-2008 Committee Handbook is designed to give committee chairs, vice chairs and committee members an overview of expectations and responsibilities. It also provides a list of members for each committee.
